![]() "Ice Ice Baby" was initially released by Ichiban Records as the B-side to Van Winkle's cover of " Play That Funky Music". Van Winkle described himself as the first rapper to cross into the pop market and said that although his pioneer status forced him to "take the heat for a lot of people" for his music's use of samples, the criticism he received over sample use allowed sampling to become acceptable in mainstream hip hop. And putting those sounds to hip hop was great. But having a brother like that, well, I just mixed the two, and he had a copy of 'Under Pressure'. I listened to funk and hip hop because rock wasn't really my era. He used to listen to rock 'n' roll and stuff like that. The way I do stuff is to go through old records that my brother has. In December 1990, Van Winkle told British youth music magazine Smash Hits where he came up with the idea of sampling "Under Pressure": Van Winkle later paid Queen and Bowie and as a result, Bowie and all members of Queen have since been given songwriting credit for the sample. In later interviews, Van Winkle readily admitted he sampled the song and claimed his 1990 statement was a joke others, however, suggested he had been serious. In a 1990 interview, Van Winkle said the two melodies were slightly different because he had added an additional note, an anacrusis ("pickup") between odd-numbered and subsequent even-numbered iterations of the Under Pressure sample. The song's hook samples the bassline of the 1981 song " Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie, who did not receive credit or royalties for the sample. ![]() Of the song's lyrics, Van Winkle states that "If you released 'Ice Ice Baby' today, it would fit in today's lyrical respect among peers, you know what I'm sayin'? My lyrics aren't, 'Pump it up, go! Go!' At least I'm sayin' somethin'." The chorus of "Ice Ice Baby" originates from the signature chant of the national African American fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha. The lyrics describe a shooting and Van Winkle's rhyming skills. Robert Van Winkle, better known by his stage name Vanilla Ice, wrote "Ice Ice Baby" in 1983 at the age of 16, basing its lyrics upon his experiences in South Florida. Vanilla Ice based the song's lyrics upon the South Florida area in which he lived. The song came fifth in VH1 and Blender 's 2004 list of the "50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever." Outside the United States, the song topped the charts in Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom, thus helping the song diversify hip hop by introducing it to a mainstream audience. "Ice Ice Baby" was the first hip hop single to top the Billboard Hot 100. When disc jockey David Morales played "Ice Ice Baby" instead, it began to gain success. ![]() "Ice Ice Baby" was initially released as the B-side to Vanilla Ice's cover of " Play That Funky Music", but the single was not initially successful. It has appeared in remixed form on Platinum Underground and Vanilla Ice Is Back! " Ice Ice Baby" is a hip hop song written by American rapper Vanilla Ice and DJ Earthquake based on the bassline of " Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie, who did not initially receive songwriting credit or royalties until after it had become a hit. ![]()

"So, someone out there is hearing this, saying, 'You know, I really don't have anything better to do for a month. We have to figure out a way to do that because it can take six to nine months to get to Mars with current propulsion technology," she said. I hope that happens and these microgravity simulations are one of the things that help scientists keep astronauts more healthy in microgravity. I really wanted to see us get to Mars in my lifetime. Well, my personal interest was the Mars program. I guess the silver lining is that you are a big part of how our space program is going to progress into the future," Silverman said. He had seen something about the NASA studies on and so he sent that to me as a joke, but then I followed the trail back to NASA's website, where they basically said 'Come to bed rest, tilted head down which simulates microgravity' and that they would, in fact, pay for it," she told Silverman. Along with being able to spend virtually every hour of the day watching TV, movies, playing video games, or reading, the team is paying a handsome sum of 16,500 euros (nearly $19,000) to each individual. The scientists, who are still recruiting participants for the second round of 12, are offering quite the experience for anyone brave enough to endure two months of doing absolutely nothing. The spinning arm of the centrifuge will push blood back towards the feet of the participant, simulating the effects of gravity and, the scientists hope, revealing what benefits such a system might provide for real-life astronauts during lengthy stays in space. The two dozen volunteers - being tested in two groups of 12 - will each spend 60 days resting, with occasional trips to a centrifuge in the laboratory. Scientists who fly to the International Space Station, for example, have to exercise regularly with resistance machines to keep their bodies in good working order, but NASA and ESA want to know if occasional upkeep with artificial gravity might also be beneficial. The iPhone 14 Pro will have a better chipset, a faster processor, and a larger battery, as well as an updated camera module. The iPhone 14 Pro is a different story altogether, however, as it will not only look like an upgrade but it will also run like one too – even compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 Pro models will be considerably more powerful than the base model iPhone 14, thanks to its newer and faster A16 chipset, so if you’re currently using an iPhone 13, it probably won’t be worth upgrading to the iPhone 14. To date, there haven’t been many leaks about the iPhone 14’s memory. ![]() Not much has been said about storage thus far, so it is possible we could see some additional changes here, although Apple will most likely keep it the same as it was last year. The base models’ storage options will top out at 512GB. With things like storage, if you want 1TB, again, you’ll have to go with a Pro model iPhone 14. For the first time ever, Apple will split the chipsets inside the iPhone 14 range with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max getting its new A16 and the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max using a slightly tweaked version of the iPhone 13’s A15 CPU. Internally, there will be massive changes this year too. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will also be considerably heavier too, owing to their stainless steel frame that’ll make the Pro models far more robust than the aluminum-made iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. On the back, you’ll have a triple-lens camera module with plenty of updates and things like LiDAR. For one, the notch will be gone, replaced by the “new” pill-shaped punch hole in the front of the phone – this is where FACE ID will live on the iPhone 14’s Pro models. With the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, things will be quite a bit different. Again, both will have IP68 water and dust resistance too. Both will retain the 13’s notch, run dual-lens cameras on the rear, and feature a flat-edged aluminum chassis. The standard iPhone 14 models – so, the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max – will look more or less identical to the iPhone 13. ![]() ![]() Make sure animals and children are kept well away.

When you travel dozens – or hundreds – of miles each day, it’ll inevitably have a toll on your vehicle. Many delivery drivers believe that companies aren’t doing enough to offset the hefty expenses of car upkeep – which brings us to another thing you must consider. It’s one of the best ways to cut your expenses. That’s the primary reason why, if you’re going to work as a delivery driver and use your own car, not a company-issued one, choose one that doesn’t spend a lot of gas. If you’re going to start working for a particular company, it’s best to clear this ahead and determine where you stand regarding gas money. However, based on numerous reviews from people employed at major companies requiring delivery drivers, the consensus is that delivery drivers have to pay for their own petrol out of pocket. Whether or not that’s acceptable to you personally depends on factors such as the pay per hour, how much gas your car needs, and of course, the current gas price.Īgain, the fact that delivery drivers usually don’t get paid for gas is not set in stone – it can vary from company to company. Generally speaking, though, delivery drivers DO NOT get paid for gas. If you make enough in tips and each delivery, you can cover your petrol costs while also making a profit. Most restaurants pay their delivery drivers a minimum wage plus a bonus for each delivery. Typically, the company collects the charge to cover driver expenditures, such as paying for a percentage of their petrol (rarely) or other expenses associated with the delivery role, like insurance. However, the driver seldom receives the full cost. The delivery charge is consistent from chain to chain.
